Minneapolis-based Target Corporation, well known for their innovative advertising and support for the arts, has launched a new outdoor advertising campaign called "Art Expands". The new campaign is running on the giant LED screens outside the Staples Center, in downtown Los Angeles. Utilizing Target’s signature red-and-white palette, "Art Expands" features five dancers from Momix, an internationally known company of dancer-illusionists, who unfold and refold themselves into a swirl of origami-like patterns.
The campaign is part of a series in Target's "Art for All" video installations that have been featured in various outdoor and traditional broadcast placements, and is the third inspired project developed by motion graphic designer Eyeball for Target's "Art for All" video installation series. Commissioned through Catalyst, a Minneapolis-based motion graphics and interactive studio, Eyeball was awarded Art Expands due to its founder and creative director Limore Shur's experience in directing dance.
